What is Exforge?
Exforge is a medication used to combat hypertension (high blood pressure) that combines amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, with valsartan, and angiotensin II receptor agonist. Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels and the heart muscle, while valsartan keeps vessels from narrowing in order to improve blood flow. How do I take Exforge?

What are the possible side effects of taking Exforge?
Some patients have reported side effects after taking Exforge. Less severe side effects include headache, stomach pain, nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea, blurred vision, fatigue, or feeling dizzy or lightheaded. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.
Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing), unexplained weight gain, hoarseness, tachycardia or arrhythmia, frequent or severe chest pain, or fainting.
What if I forget to take a dose of Exforge?
If you miss your scheduled dose of Exforge, take it as soon as your remember and are able. However, if it is nearing the time for the next dose of the medication, forego the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not take multiple doses to compensate for the one that was skipped.
How do I store Exforge?
Keep the Exforge tablets tightly sealed in their original container, out of the reach of children, and away from the extremes of temperature and humidity. Dispose of any unused or expired tablets according to the recommendations of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Exforge?
If an overdose of Exforge is suspected contacted the Poison Control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing, fallen unconscious, has a rapid or weak pulse, slowed heartbeat, or cold, clammy skin, contact Emergency Services at 911.
Warnings
Do not take Exforge if you are pregnant. Notify your doctor if you become pregnant while taking this medication. Do not take potassium supplements or use salt substitutes while taking Exforge unless approved by your doctor. Dizziness or lightheadedness may result from rising too quickly from a seated or prone position.

Exforge is the brand name of a specific combination of the medications amlodipine and valsartan.
