Kerydin Information:

What is Kerydin?

Kerydin is a topical antifungal medication used to treat toenail fungal infections. It comes as a solution and is available in both a 4ml bottle (for fewer affected toenails) and a 10ml bottle (for more affected toenails).

How do I take Kerydin?

Kerydin is typically used once daily for 48 weeks. It is applied directly to the affected toenails through a dropper that is attached to the lid of the bottle. Gently squeeze drops over the entire infected toenail surface and under the tip of the toenail. Use just enough solution to cover the entire affected surfaces. Do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surfaces, and do not get the medication on any skin that is not surrounding the affected areas. Use a tissue to wipe off any Kerydin that has gotten on the surrounding skin, and let the solution dry on your toenails for several minutes.

Before taking Kerydin, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Kerydin or have any other allergies
  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications or supplements
  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Kerydin?

Kerydin may cause ingrown toenails, skin peeling, itching, redness, or swelling at the application site. These side effects usually go away as your body adjusts to the medication, but if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know. If you experience any other unusual side effects, contact your doctor immediately. You can also report side effects to the FDA by calling 1-800-FDA-1088.

What if I forget to take a dose of Kerydin?

Apply Kerydin at the same time every day to help you remember. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your normal dosage schedule. Do not apply more of the Kerydin solution than you normally would in an effort to catch up.

How do I store Kerydin?

Keep your bottle of Kerydin tightly sealed and store it at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Because the solution is flammable, keep it away from heat and flame. If you no longer need the medication or it has expired, ask your pharmacist how to safely dispose of the remaining solution.

What happens if I overdose on Kerydin?

It is unlikely that you will overdose on Kerydin if you are applying it topically. However, if you or someone in your household swallows any of the solution, you should call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Warnings

Only use Kerydin on your infected toenails. Do not get the solution in your eyes, mouth, or vagina. Stay away from high heat and flame while applying the medication, as the solution is flammable.
