Luzu Information:

What is Luzu?

Luzu (luliconazole) is an azole antifungal cream primarily used to treat athlete’s foot. It is also sometimes used to treat ringworm and jock itch. It works by killing the fungi causing these infections.

How do I take Luzu?

If you are using the Luzu drug to treat athlete’s foot, spread a thin layer of the cream over the entire affected skin area and over about one inch of the surrounding skin once daily for two weeks. Follow the same application instructions if you are using this medication for ringworm or jock itch, but apply it once daily for just one week. Always wash your hands thoroughly when you are done using this cream. Remember, the recommendations above do not constitute medical advice—you should always defer to your doctor if he or she has given you different dosage directions.

Before taking Luzu, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Luzu
  • You have any other allergies
  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medicines or supplements
  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Luzu?

A mild skin reaction is the most common side effect of the Luzu drug. Your skin may become slightly red, itchy, or otherwise irritated at the application site when you first start using this medication, but these side effects usually go away as your body adjusts to the drug. If they do not go away, or if you experience any other unusual side effects, tell your doctor.

What if I forget to take a dose of Luzu?

Luzu is most effective when applied daily for the duration of the prescribed treatment period. If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for another dose, skip the missed one and continue with your normal dosage schedule. Do not apply more of the Luzu cream than you normally would.

How do I store Luzu?

Keep Luzu in its tightly sealed container at room temperature (between 68 and 77 degrees). Do not store it in the bathroom, as moisture, heat, and bright light can negatively affect it. As with any prescription medication, keep Luzu out of reach of any children or pets in your household. If you have unused or expired cream, talk to your pharmacist about how to safely dispose of it.

What happens if I overdose on Luzu?

It is unlikely that you will overdose on the Luzu drug when applying it topically; however, it can be harmful when swallowed. If you or anyone in your household has swallowed some of this medication, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 right away.

Warnings

Luzu is only intended for external use. Avoid getting it in or near your eyes, mouth, or vagina. If you get Luzu in any of these areas, use cool water to rinse it off immediately.

Brand Name

Luzu is a brand name drug, and there is currently no generic equivalent. If your insurance doesn’t cover this medication and you need help paying for it, remember to use a Luzu coupon or discount card from HelpRx.
