• What

Synalar is a corticosteroid, used on the skin to reduce swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions. Fluocinolone is used to treat conditions like allergic reactions, eczema, seborrhea, and psoriasis. 

• How

Use this medication as directed on the label. Don’t use it in larger or smaller amounts or leave it for longer than recommended. Wash your hands before and after using Synalar, unless you’re treating the skin on your hands. Apply a small amount of the medication to the affected area and rub it in gently. 

• Precautions

·       You have diabetes

·       You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding

• Side Effects

Common side effects of this medication include mild skin itching, burning peeling, and dryness; thinning or softness of the skin, swollen hair follicles, blisters, pimples, or crusty skin, coloration of treated skin, skin rash or irritation, stretch marks. Stop using the medication if you have severe irritation of treated skin or if you show signs of absorption such as blurred vision, headache, thinning skin, easy bruising, mood changes, weight gain, face puffiness, muscle weakness, and tiredness. 

• Missed Dosage

You should apply the missed dosage as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is close to time for your next scheduled dose. Don’t take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose. 

• Storage

Store this medication at room temperature, keeping it away from moisture and heat. Keep it in its original container with the bottle tightly closed.

Warnings

Children can absorb larger amounts of this medication through the skin and may be more likely to have side effects. Do not cover skin areas treated with Synalar with a bandage or other covering unless instructed by your physician.
