Alcortin Information:

What is Alcortin?

Alcortin is medication that is prescribed by dermatologists to patients with bacterial and fungal infections. When used as directed, Alcortin minimizes painful irritation and inflammation caused by infections. The main active agents in Alcortin, hydrocortisone, aloe polysaccharide, and idoquinol, are a combination of steroids and antibiotics that help treat infections and painful swelling.

How do I take Alcortin?

Wash your skin thoroughly with gentle cleanser and allow the skin to dry completely. Apply a thin layer of Alcortin to the affected areas 3 to 4 times daily or as directed by your dermatologist. Do not cover the skin with bandages or wraps as it may cause further skin irritation.

Before taking Alcortin, tell your doctor if:

Contact your doctor right away if you experience: severe pain, burning, irritation, blurred vision, seeing halos, weight gain, face puffiness, itching, oozing.

What if I forget to take a dose of Alcortin?

If you forget to apply Alcortin to your skin, skip the missed dose and apply it as soon as you remember. Do not apply more Alcortin to your skin than prescribed to make up for a missed dose as it may cause side effects.

How do I store Alcortin?

Store Alcortin in a room with a temperature between 67 to 87 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not expose the medication to excess heat or moisture.
