How do I take atovaquone-proguanil?
Take a dose of atovaquone-proguanil 1 or 2 days before traveling to an area with a high-risk for malaria, and continue taking a dose daily while in the region. After returning home, you should take atovaquone-proguanil for 7 consecutive days. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions carefully.
Before taking atovaquone-proguanil, tell your doctor if:

- You are taking blood thinners
- You have liver disease
- You have kidney problems
- You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
