• you are 65 years of age or older, as bisacodyl is not as safe for older adults to take as other medications that can be used

Additional precautions:

• Wait at least 1 hour before taking bisacodyl if you are currently taking antacids.

• feel faint

What if I forget to use a dose of Bisacodyl?

 

Bisacodyl is typically taken as needed. If your doctor has prescribed that you take it at specific times, take it once you remember the missed dose. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take 2 doses of Bisacodyl.

Store this medication securely in the container in which it came, at room temperature. Keep away from excess moisture or heat. Keep out of reach of children. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.

Frequent or long-term use of bisacodyl may make you dependent on laxatives. It may also cause your bowels to no longer function normally.
