Capex Information:
What is Capex?
Capex is the drug fluocinolone in shampoo form. It is a corticosteroid that is prescribed to treat symptoms such as itching, redness, crusting, scaling, and dryness that accompany certain skin conditions including eczema, seborrhea, and psoriasis. It works by reducing the effects of certain chemicals produced by the body that cause inflammation.
How do I take Capex?
Capex is a medicated shampoo. The dosing schedule and amount used will be determined by your doctor depending on the condition being treated and its severity. Use Capex as you would any shampoo – wet your hair and scalp, apply the prescribed amount, massage it in, then rinse clean. Do not use it more frequently than directed and do not apply it to other parts of the body or use it for longer than prescribed.
Before taking Capex, tell your doctor if:
-
You are allergic to fluocinolone or any of the ingredients in the Capex shampoo
-
You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child
-
You are taking any medications, vitamins, supplements, or other medicated shampoos or topical medications
-
You are taking cancer chemotherapy agents
- You have, or have had, diabetes, an immune disorder, glaucoma, a circulation disorder, cataracts, or an infection
What are the possible side effects of taking Capex?
Some people have reported side effects after using the Capex drug. Mild side effects may include acne, burning, cracked or dry skin, itching, or skin color changes. If any of these conditions linger or get worse, contact your doctor. Serious side effects such as a severe skin rash, signs of an allergic reaction, or a skin infection require immediate medical attention.
What if I forget to take a dose of Capex?
If you forget to apply a scheduled dose of Capex, do so as soon as you are able. If it is almost time for the next application, though, skip the one missed and follow the prescribed routine. Do not alter the schedule or use the shampoo more frequently than the prescription dictates.
How do I store Capex?
Keep Capex tightly sealed in its bottle, out of the reach of children and away from temperature extremes. Do not allow the shampoo to freeze. Dispose of any unused amount according to the instructions of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Capex?
If you accidentally ingest Capex, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.
