Cetaphil Information:
What is Cetaphil?
Cetaphil is a line of skin care products in the topical emollients class used to cleanse and moisturize the skin as part of a treatment program for a variety of skin ailments and conditions including acne, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, and atopic dermatitis.
How do I use Cetaphil?
How the Cetaphil medicine is used depends on the specific product. Creams, moisturizers, and lotions are applied directly to the skin and rubbed into the affected areas; body and facial wash products need to be used according to the instructions on the packaging.
Before taking Cetaphil, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any of the ingredients in the Cetaphil line of products
- You are pregnant or nursing a child
- You have any puncture wounds, or any large or gaping wounds
- You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements
- You are using other topical skin treatment products
- You have acne, psoriasis, eczema, atopic dermatitis, or any skin condition
- You have, or have had, skin cancer
What are the possible side effects of taking Cetaphil?
Some individuals have reported side effects while using products in the Cetaphil medicine line. Mild symptoms include itching, burning, or stinging of the skin at the application site. If these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor for assistance.
Severe side effects of Cetaphil that require immediate medical attention include signs of a severe allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat, or tongue; difficulty breathing or swallowing; hives or rash; or severe or persistent itching.
What if I forget to take a dose of Cetaphil?
Because Cetaphil products do not have a prescribed dosing schedule and are used on an as-needed basis, missing an application is not possible. However, if you have been using this product and it has been some time since the last application, use it as soon as possible if a skin problem appears or reappears.
How do I store Cetaphil?
Keep Cetaphil products tightly sealed in their original containers, out of the reach of children and away from the extremes of heat and humidity. Do not allow Cetaphil products to freeze. Dispose of any unused or expired product according to the recommendations of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Cetaphil?
If a Cetaphil product is ingested, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lapsed into unconsciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.
Warnings
Contact you doctor if your condition has not improved after three or four days. Do not ingest Cetaphil products. Do not allow the lotions or creams to come in contact with the eyes or mucus membranes.
