What is CitraNatal B-Calm?
CitraNatal B-Calm is a multivitamin and mineral combination prescribed to ensure proper levels of nutrition before, during, and after pregnancy in both lactating and non-lactating mothers. It contains vitamins C, D3, and B6, as well as calcium, iron, and folic acid; it does not contain vitamin A. It may also be prescribed to prevent nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.
How do I take CitraNatal B-Calm?
CitraNatal B-Calm is administered in a two-tablet dose that is taken orally with water and without regard to food; however, if it causes an upset stomach, it should be taken with food. The frequency of dosing will be determined by your physician. All dosing begins with Tablet 1; the first contains the multivitamin/nutrient combination; the second contains vitamin B6. Swallow the tablets whole; do not crush or chew them.
Before taking CitraNatal B-Calm, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to any vitamins, nutrients, or any of the ingredients in CitraNatal B-Calm
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child
- You are taking any medications, vitamins, or supplements, including those containing aluminum or calcium
- You have, or have had, anemia or other blood or clotting disorders
- You have high levels or iron or an iron metabolism disorder
- You have, or have had, a gastrointestinal or bowel disorder or kidney stones
- You have any other illnesses or infections
What are the possible side effects of taking CitraNatal B-Calm?
Mild side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, appetite loss, stomach cramps, or green or darkened stools have been reported by those taking CitraNatal B-Calm. If you exhibit any of these symptoms and they persist or worsen, contact your doctor. If you have symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, seek medical help immediately.
What if I forget to take a dose of CitraNatal B-Calm?
If you forget to take CitraNatal B-Calm, do so as soon as you remember and are able, unless it is almost time for the next dose. In this instance, skipped the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not take more than the prescribed amount or change the schedule to make up for a missed dose.

What happens if I overdose on CitraNatal B-Calm?
If an overdose of CitraNatal B-Calm is suspected, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, or a child six years old or younger accidentally ingests this medication, contact Emergency Services at 911. Symptoms of an overdose may include black, bloody or tarry stools; unusually pale skin or skin or nails with bluish tint; changes in urine volume or frequency of urination; chest pain, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, breathing difficulties, tachycardia, arrhythmia, flushing, thirst, appetite changes, severe nausea, vomiting, vomit that look like coffee grounds or blood, dry eyes, stomach pain, extreme fatigue, or shortness of breath.
Warnings
Keep CitraNatal B-Calm out of the reach of children; accidental overdose of iron is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children six and under. Do not lie down for thirty minutes after taking this medication. Do not take large doses of vitamins while taking CitraNatal B-Calm without your doctor’s permission.
