Farydak Information:

Farydak is a drug that works as a histone deacetylase inhibitor, which slows the progression of cancer growth. Most doctors prescribe Farydak in combination with bortezomib and dexamethasone for patients with multiple myeloma. Following a minimum of two prior regimens that include bortezomib and an immunomodulatory agent, this treatment can begin. It has shown an increase in the period of survival for patients battling cancer.

Farydak comes in capsule form and is administered in a 21-day treatment cycle. Usually, patients need only take this drug during the first one or two weeks of a medication cycle. Patients can take it with or without food at the same time each day the medication is scheduled. Follow all instructions provided by your doctor.

Before taking Farydak, tell your doctor if:

  • You have heart disease
  • You have recently had a heart attack
  • You have a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome
  • You suffer from liver disease
  • You have any type of infection
  • You have a bleeding or blood-clotting disorder
  • You have been sick with diarrhea
  • You are dehydrated

Use of Farydak has intense effects on the body and has been associated with common side effects that may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, fever, swelling in your arms or legs, fatigue, or low blood cell counts. Alert a medical professional immediately if you begin to notice severe or ongoing vomiting or diarrhea, pink or brown urine, easy bruising or bleeding, constant bleeding, extremely low blood cell counts, signs of an electrolyte imbalance, liver problems, or signs of stomach bleeding.

If you have only missed your scheduled dose by 12 hours or less, take the missed dose once you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Never take additional medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Store capsules at room temperature away from moisture, light, and heat. Keep them in their original container, as it is designed to preserve the integrity of the medications contained within. If you move the medication to a different container, you may spoil the medication.

Should you overdose on the drug Farydak, you may begin to notice some severe side effects. If you suspect you may have overdosed, get to an emergency room or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Farydak has a tendency to cause severe diarrhea. Alert your doctor if you begin to have stomach cramps or notice signs of dehydration, including extreme thirst, low rate of urination, sweating, or hot, dry skin. This medication may also cause fatal heart problems. Get help as quickly as possible if you feel chest pain, unusual heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, swelling in your legs, or shortness of breath.

Farydak is the brand name of the generic medication panobinostat. It has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on an accelerated program. It is not currently marketed under any additional names. If your doctor prescribed this drug to you to help slow the growth of cancer cells, reduce the cost of Farydak with a coupon from HelpRx now!
