Florastor Information:
This medicine is a yeast probiotic used to promote bowel health. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Use this medicine exactly as directed on the package, unless instructed differently by your doctor. SWALLOW WHOLE. If you are unable to swallow this medicine whole, you may open the capsule and empty the contents on your tongue. Be sure to wash the capsule contents down with a drink of water or juice. You may also sprinkle the capsule contents on soft food (such as applesauce, sour cream or yogurt) or add to drinks (such as juice, water, milk, or formula). STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. IF YOU MISS TAKING A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE for 1 or more days, there is no cause for concern. If your doctor recommended that you take it, try to remember your dose every day.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies (including yeast), pregnancy, or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have a central venous catheter. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include gas, constipation, and thirst. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, or trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
