Generlac Information:
Generlac is a brand drug that is used to treat constipation. It is a synthetic sugar that comes in liquid form and it works to soften the stool. Generlac is also prescribed to patients with liver disease to reduce the amount of ammonia in the blood by pulling ammonia from the blood and into the colon, where it is then expunged from the body.
How do I use Generlac?
Generlac comes as a liquid to be taken orally. It is typically prescribed to be taken one time per day for treatment of constipation. Patients taking this drug for liver disease are typically advised to take it 3 to 4 times per day. Consult with your doctor for specific dosing information for your condition.
Before using Generlac, tell your doctor if:

you are allergic to Generlac or any other medications

you are taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, or nutritional or herbal supplements

you have diabetes

you required to follow a low-lactose diet
- you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding
What are the possible side effects of using Generlac?
Contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms and if they do not go away:

What if I forget to use a dose of Generlac?
Take your missed dose of Generlac as soon as your remember to take it, unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
How do I store Generlac?
Store this medication tightly closed when not in use. Store it at room temperature and keep away from excess moisture and heat. Keep this medication out of reach of children and away from pets. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.
What happens if I overdose on Generlac?
In case of overdose, call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) to find out what to do, or seek immediate medical attention.

Generlac is a brand drug, and the Generlac generic is Lactulose. Other similar brand name drugs include Cholac, Constilac Syrup, Constulose, and Enulose.
