Glycopyrrolate Information:

Glycopyrrolate comes as a tablet and it is a generic anticholinergic drug used to treat ulcers. It is typically used in combination with other drugs. Glycopyrrolate works by decreasing stomach acid production.

Glycopyrrolate tablets are to be taken orally and this drug is typically prescribed to be taken 2 or 3 timers per day. Consult with your doctor for specific instructions on how to use this medication.

Before using Glycopyrrolate, tell your doctor if:

 
  • you are allergic to Glycopyrrolate or any other medications

  • you are taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications, vitamins, or supplements

  • you have or have ever had glaucoma

  • you have or have ever had enlargement of the prostate, ulcerative colitis, myasthenia gravis, gastrointestinal disease, overactive thyroid, high blood pressure, heart failure, rapid or irregular heartbeats, coronary artery disease, hiatal hernia with reflux

  • you have or have ever had disorders of the nervous system

  • you have or have ever had kidney or liver disease.

  • you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding

 

Additional precautions:

 
  • If you are having surgery of any kind, tell your doctor you are taking Glycopyrrolate

  • Alcohol may increase the drowsiness effect of Glycopyrrolate.
  • Glycopyrrolate may cause drowsiness. Do not operate machinery or drive until you know how this medication affects you.

What are the possible side effects of using Glycopyrrolate?

 

Contact your doctor if you experience these symptoms and if they do not go away:

  • dry mouth or loss of taste

  • decreased sweating

  • difficulty urinating

  • blurred vision or other vision problems

  • headaches or dizziness

  • nervousness or confusion

  • drowsiness

  • weakness

  • insomnia

  • upset stomach or feeling bloated

  • vomiting

  • constipation

Contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms:

  • diarrhea

  • rash or hives

  • difficulty breathing
  • difficulty swallowing

Take your missed dose of Glycopyrrolate as soon as your remember to take it, unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Store this medication tightly closed when not in use. Store it at room temperature and keep away from excess moisture and heat. Keep this medication out of reach of children and away from pets. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.

In case of overdose, call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) to find out what to do, or seek immediate medical attention.

  • Glycopyrrolate lessens the body's ability to cool off by sweating. In very high temperatures, Glycopyrrolate can cause one to develop fever and heat stroke

Glycopyrrolate is a generic drug. Brand versions of Glycopyrrolate include Cuvposa, Robinul, and Robinul Forte. These drugs are not all the same, so consult with your doctor to determine which treatment is best for you.
