• What

Ixinity is coagulation factor IX in a recombinant injection form, which is used to control bleeding episode and to prevent bleeding during surgery in patients with hemophilia B. The additional injected Factor IX helps blood clot to prevent bleeding.

A doctor or other trained medical personnel will either give you the medication or train you to administer it yourself. Ixinity is given through a needle placed directly in one of your veins.

Less common and less serious side effects include a change in the way you perceive taste or loss of taste, headache, or pain in arms in legs.

• Missed Dosage

Since Ixinity will only be administered by a medical professional or under the supervision of one, there is no need to worry about a missed dose.

• Storage

The medicine should be stored in the refrigerator between 36 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit, and should not be frozen. After the powder is reconstituted in water, it should not be refrigerated. 

• Overdose

You should not overdose on this medication, as it will likely be administered by a doctor, or under a doctor’s orders.
