Lenvima Information:

Lenvima is in the kinase inhibitors drug class. It works by disrupting the growth of cancer cells. Because of the risk of side effects, this medication is usually only prescribed to treat thyroid cancer when radioactive iodine treatment has been unsuccessful, or to treat advanced kidney cancer that has already been treated with an anti-angiogenic therapy.

Take Lenvima once per day with or without food, unless your doctor has given you different instructions. Swallow each capsule whole. Depending on your condition, you may need to take several Lenvima capsules of different strengths for each dose. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully, and do not change your dose without talking to your healthcare provider.

Before taking Lenvima, tell your doctor if:

·       You are allergic to this or any other medications

·       You are taking any other medications, vitamins, or supplements

·       You have any heart problems, especially a personal or family history of long QT syndrome

·       You have ever had a heart attack, stroke, or blood clot

·       You have an electrolyte imbalance

·       You have liver or kidney disease

·       You have high blood pressure

·       You have a bleeding disorder

·       You have had a perforation in your stomach or intestines

·       You get severe headaches

·       You have vision problems

·       You have epilepsy

·       You are breastfeeding or pregnant

The most commonly reported Lenvima side effects include fatigue, decreased appetite, weight loss, joint and muscle pain, rash, nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, mouth sores, and hoarseness. Call your doctor right away if you experience severe stomach pain or if you choke or gag while eating or drinking, as these may be signs of a perforation in your stomach or intestines. You should also call your doctor right away if you experience vision problems, confusion, seizures, unusual bruising or bleeding, bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood, shortness of breath, chest pain, sudden weight gain, sudden numbness or weakness, severe headache, slurred speech, coordination problems, painful or difficult urination, lower back pain, numbness around your mouth, muscle tightness, or irregular chest pain. These are not all the possible side effects, and you should consult your doctor if you have any other adverse effects that concern you.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless more than 12 hours have passed since your normal dosing time. In this case, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Don’t take two doses at the same time or close to the same time.

Store Lenvima in its original packaging at room temperature (68 to 77 degrees). Don’t store your medication in the bathroom, and don’t leave it anywhere that children or pets could reach.

Overdosing on Lenvima may cause you to experience severe side effects. If you or someone in your home has overdosed on this drug, get emergency medical attention.

You should never use Lenvima during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm. Women who can become pregnant should use an effective birth control method while taking this medication and for at least two weeks after taking their last dose. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment.

Lenvima is only sold under this brand name. While there may not be a cheaper generic equivalent, keep in mind that you can save as much as 75% at the pharmacy when you print or download a HelpRx Lenvima coupon.
