Lustra-Af Information:

What is Lustra-AF?

Lustra-AF is a skin bleaching agent that creates a reversible inhibition of melanin processing. It is used to create a gradual bleaching effect on skin that is hyperpigmented due to conditions such as chloasma, melasma, freckles, and senile lentigines. The action of Lustra-AF allows it to be reversed by exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet light, which will excite and reinitiate processes related to melanin.

How do I take Lustra-AF?

This medication is typically taken as a topical cream. Test an area of skin by applying a small amount of topical cream to unbroken skin before beginning regular use. Check for signs of allergic reaction such as itching, blistering, redness, and irritation. If you are not allergic, rub the cream into the affected area until it is evenly distributed, then wash your hands so the medication does not bleach them.

Before taking Lustra-AF, tell your doctor if:

  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medicines
  • You are taking an herbal preparation
  • You are taking any dietary supplements
  • You have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

What are the possible side effects of taking Lustra-AF?

As a topical medication, Lustra-AF may have undesirable effects on the skin. Be aware that common side effects may occur, such as dryness or cracking of the skin, especially around the nose and eyes, or minor redness or burning at the site of application. Stop use and tell a doctor immediately if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, blistering, blue or black pigmentation of the skin, extreme redness, stinging, or irritation.

What if I forget to take a dose of Lustra-AF?

Rub Lustra-AF into the skin as soon as you remember, as it is an incremental medication. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the dose that you missed and return to your regular dosing schedule. Never take more than 1 dose at once.

How do I store Lustra-AF?

Keep Lustra-AF at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (15 and 30 degrees Celsius). Store it in a place away from heat, moisture, and light. Make sure it stays out of the reach of children and away from pets.

What happens if I overdose on Lustra-AF?

You may notice severe skin reactions in the event of an overdose. If you suspect overdose or notice any of the severe symptoms listed above, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or get to an emergency room immediately.

Warnings

During and after use of Lustra-AF cream, protect your skin from exposure to the sun. Wear sunscreen and cover treated areas with protective clothing. Lustra-AF is for external use only. Keep it away from eyes, nose, mouth, and lips. Wash eyes, lips, nose, and mouth with cool water if they make contact with Lustra-AF. Do not use Lustra-AF on irritated or injured skin.
