What is My Way?
As an emergency contraceptive, My Way is used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or birth control failure. It is more effective the sooner it is taken, and it needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. Multiple My Way pills are not necessary; a dose consists of a single tablet.
How do I take My Way?
Take a My Way tablet as soon as possible within 72 hours after unprotected sex. This medication sometimes causes nausea and vomiting; if you throw up within two hours after taking the tablet, contact your doctor to find out if you should take another single-tablet dose.
Before taking My Way, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to this drug (levonorgestrel)
- You have any other allergies
- You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications or supplements, especially St. John’s wort, rifampin, or nevirapine
- You are premenstrual
- You have a history of ectopic pregnancy
What are the possible side effects of taking My Way?
The most common side effects of My Way are dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, diarrhea, stomach pain, and changes in menstrual cycle (e.g. getting your period earlier or later than you normally would). These side effects typically do not last long, but if you have any side effects that are bothersome or do not go away, tell your doctor.
What if I forget to take a dose of My Way?
Since My Way is taken as needed after unprotected sex, forgetting a dose should not be an issue. If it has been over 72 hours since you had unprotected sex and you have not taken an emergency contraceptive, talk to your doctor.
How do I store My Way?
Storing My Way should not be a concern since you should take the single dose as soon as you can. If you do need to store it for any reason, keep it at room temperature, away from light and moisture, and out of reach of pets and children.
What happens if I overdose on My Way?
My Way only comes in one tablet doses.

My Way is only used to prevent pregnancy; it does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. It may cause dizziness, so be careful about driving or engaging in other activities that require clear vision and alertness after taking a dose. My Way may cause your menstrual period to be late, but if it is late by more than a week, contact your doctor.
