Poly-Vi-Flor Information:
What is Poly-Vi-Flor?
Poly-Vi-Flor is a supplement for babies over 6 months of age and children up to the age of 16. Poly-Vi-Flor contains fluoride, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, several forms of vitamin B and iron. Fluoride helps prevent cavities, and this supplement protects children’s teeth in areas where there is not enough fluoride in the water.
How do I take Poly-Vi-Flor?
Poly-Vi-Flor comes in the form of oral drops or as chewable tablets. Infants from the ages of 6 months up to 3 years are usually prescribed the drops. Tablets are not recommended for children under 3, as they may choke on them. The drops may be mixed with water, juice or formula. The typical dose is 1mL per day. Always follow your doctors dosing instructions.
Before taking Poly-Vi-Flor, tell your doctor if:
- Your child is less than 6 months old.
- Your child is allergic to any of the ingredients in Poly-Vi-Flor drops or tablets, or if he or she has any known allergies.
- Your child is breastfeeding or drinks milk regularly.
- You child is taking other vitamins or supplements.
What are the possible side effects of taking Poly-Vi-Flor?
The fluoride and Poly-Vi-Flor may cause tooth discoloration. Be sure to brush your child’s teeth regularly, and tell your doctor right away if you notice any discoloration. Other side effects may include upset stomach, headache and weakness. If any of these side effects are severe, tell your doctor right away.
What if I forget to take a dose of Poly-Vi-Flor?
If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular schedule. Don’t take double doses to try to compensate for missed ones.
How do I store Poly-Vi-Flor?
Keep Poly-Vi-Flor drops in the container they came in. Putting these drops in a glass container can ruin the medication. Store Poly-Vi-Flor products at room temperature and protect them from heat and moisture. Do not leave the product within reach of younger children who may take too much.
What happens if I overdose on Poly-Vi-Flor?
Signs of overdose on Poly-Vi-Flor may include upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, muscle stiffness and seizures. If you think your child has overdosed on Poly-Vi-Flor, get emergency medical attention as soon as possible.
Warnings
Do not mix these drops or take the tablets with milk, yogurt or any other dairy products or supplements that contain calcium. Make sure your child isn’t swallowing toothpaste or getting fluoride from any other sources while he or she is taking this supplement.
