Retin-A Micro Information:

What is Retin A Micro?

Retin A Micro is the brand name of tretinoin topical, a form of vitamin A that is used to treat acne, mottled or rough skin, or to help smooth wrinkled skin. It is a retinoid dermatological agent that works by unclogging skin pores and promoting peeling of the skin.

How do I take Retin A Micro?

Retin A Micro is applied directly to the skin at bedtime on a daily basis, or once every two or three days, depending on the doctor’s recommendation. About half an hour before applying, thoroughly wash face and hands with a mild soap that contains few, if any, additives; towel dry your face and wait twenty to thirty minutes. Making sure the fingers or application materials are clean, apply just enough Retin A Micro to lightly cover the affected area. Do not wash the treated area for at least an hour after applying the medication. Before filling your Retin A Micro prescription, download the reusable Retin A Micro coupon or request our discount card and present it at check out for a substantial reduction to the Retin A Micro retail cost.

Before taking Retin A Micro, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to tretinoin or any of the ingredients in the Retin A Micro medication
  • You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child
  • You are using other skin care products, especially those with an alcohol base, that can irritate the skin, or that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide
  • You are using a dandruff shampoo containing resorcinol or sulfur; or
  • You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements

What are the possible side effects of taking Retin A Micro?

Some patients have reported side effects after applying Retin A Micro. Mild side effects include an increase in acne sores, red or scaling skin, blistering or crusting of the skin, change in skin color, or stinging or warm skin. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor.

Severe side effects that require immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat, or tongue.

What if I forget to take a dose of Retin A Micro?

If you are using Retin A Micro on a daily basis, and you miss an application, skip it completely and resume the regular schedule the next day. If using this medication every 2 or 3 days, and you miss a dose, apply the medicine if fewer than 12 hours have passed from the scheduled time. If more than 12 hours have elapsed, skip the missed dose and resume using it on the next day on the schedule. Do not increase the amount of Retin A Micro applied to compensate for missing a dose.
