Retin-A Micro Pump Information:

What is Retin-A Micro pump?

Retin-A Micro is a dermatological agent consisting of naturally occurring Vitamin A in gel form and is used for the treatment of acne, working by keeping the spores in the skin clear and open. The Retin-A Micro pump is how the medication is dispensed. This medication may also be used to treat other skin conditions.

How do I take Retin-A Micro pump?

The Retin-A Micro pump is prescribed either for a once a day or every two to three day regimen, and is applied at night. Before applying, wash the skin thoroughly with warm water and a cleansing agent, using gentle pressure from the fingertips. Dry thoroughly. Do not use a scrubbing device (like a washcloth or sponge) or abrasive cleanser. Wait twenty minutes to half an hour after washing before applying the medication to make sure the skin is completely dry as irritation may occur if it is damp or wet.

Once dry, apply only the amount needed to cover the affected area to a fingertip and gently rub it into the skin. If applying near the lips, nose, or eyes, push the medication away from these areas, and wash them if you get any mediation on them. A little goes a long way, so use it sparingly – a pea-sized amount will sufficiently cover the entire face. Once the medicine has been applied, wash your hands thoroughly to remove any excess.

Your acne may get worse in the first week to ten days of use, but continue with the regimen despite this.

Before taking Retin-A Micro pump, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to tretinoin or any drugs or medications;
  • You are taking any other medications;
  • You are taking any vitamins or supplements;
  • You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are nursing.

What are the possible side effects of taking Retin-A Micro pump?

Certain side effects have been reported by users of Retin-A Micro pump and include warming or slight stinging of the skin (especially when beginning or resuming treatment); worsening of acne symptoms (especially in the first week of treatment); change in skin tone (darkening or lightening); scaling or reddening of the skin; blisters or crusting; swelling of the skin. Contact your physician if any of these symptoms persist or become worse.

What if I forget to take a dose of Retin-A Micro pump?

If you are on a daily application schedule and you forget your scheduled dose with the Retin-A Micro pump, skip it completely and resume with the next scheduled time. If you are on an every two or three day routine and you miss a dose, you can apply it if it is within twelve hours of the missed time. If more than twelve hours have passed, skip the missed dose completely and wait for the next scheduled time before resuming. Do not apply a double dose of this medication.

How do I store Retin-A Micro pump?

Keep the Retin-A Micro pump tightly sealed in its original container and out of the reach of children. Keep it away from extremes of heat and humidity. Do not allow the medication to freeze. Dispose of any unused or outdated doses according to the recommendations of your pharmacist.

What happens if I overdose on Retin-A Micro pump?

If too much Retin-A Micro is applied, the skin may redden, peel, or be uncomfortable; wash the affected area thoroughly with warm water and a mild skin cleanser. If the Retin-A Micro pump has been used to ingest this medication, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual is dizzy, nauseous, or has passed out, contact Emergency Services at 911.

Warnings

Do not use the Retin-A Micro pump around or on open wounds; do not apply to sunburned (or wind burned) skin; do not use around the lips, eyes, or inside the nose. There may be a warming sensation on the skin the first few times this medication is used. Using too much of this mediation will cause it to cake and diminish its effectiveness. If you become pregnant while using the Retin-A Micro pump, contact your doctor immediately. This medication may make your skin sensitive to sunlight.
