SF Information:
SF gel is a neutral fluoride gel that contains 1.1% sodium fluoride. It helps prevent cavities.
After brushing with toothpaste, rinse as usual. Apply a thin ribbon of gel to the teeth with a tooth or mouth tray for at least one minute, preferably at bedtime. After use, spit out the gel. For best results, don’t eat, drink, or rinse afterward for at least 30 minutes.
Before taking SF gel, tell your doctor if:
· You have trouble swallowing
· You have an unusual or allergic reaction to fluoride, other medicines, foods, dyes, etc.
· You are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding
Seek emergency medical attention if you have a severe allergic reaction to this medication including rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it’s almost time for your next dose, only take the next dose. Never take double or extra doses.
Store at room temperature, keep container tightly closed. Throw away unused medicine after expiration date.
Accidental ingestion of large amounts of fluoride can result in acute burning in your mouth and sore tongue. Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can occur after ingestion, and salivation, hematemesis, epigastric cramping and abdominal pain may follow. Seek emergency medical care for a fluoride overdose, especially if over 15mg/kg of body weight has been consumed. Call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.
Warnings
SF gel is not for systemic treatment. Do not swallow this medication. Prolonged daily ingestion can be dangerous.
