Tri-Luma Information:

What is Tri-Luma?

Tri-Luma is a cream that is prescribed by a doctor or dermatologist to treat melasma. This cream contains a combination of ingredients that help heal skin and clear dark spots. These ingredients include hydroquinone, tretinoin, and fluocinolone acetonide. Hydroquinone is a skin lightener that works by bleaching the skin. Tretinoin is a retinoid that works by increasing cell turnover, and fluocinolone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and irritation.

How do I use Tri-Luma?

Buy this medication in your local pharmacy using Tri-Luma coupons from HelpRx to reduce the price. Tri-Luma comes in a tube. It should be applied nightly at least 30 minutes before bedtime, or per your doctor’s instructions. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and dry your skin before applying this medication. Put a pea-sized amount of Tri-Luma cream on your fingertip and gently rub into the affected areas. You may blend the medication into the area that surrounds each spot by a ½ inch radius. If the medication is still visible after you rub it in, you can use a smaller than pea-sized amount. Keep this medication away from your eyes, nose, and mouth. Do not apply more than is recommended by your doctor. While undergoing treatment with Tri-Luma, stay out of the sun and wear at least an SPF 30 for protection.

Before using Tri-Luma, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients in Tri-Luma or you are allergic to sulfites.
  • You are pregnant or breast feeding.
  • You have sensitive skin.

What are the possible side effects of using Tri-Luma?

Side effects from using Tri-Luma include itching, burning, dryness, or irritation at the site of application, peeling skin, acne, sensitivity to sunlight, and skin sensitivity to hot or cold. If you experience any swelling, severe irritation, blistering, or a darkening of the treated skin, stop using the product and contact your doctor at once.

What if I forget to take a dose of Tri-Luma?

If you miss a dose of Tri-Luma, skip the missed application and continue on your regular schedule. Do not apply a double dose or consecutive doses to make up for a missed one.

How do I store Tri-Luma?

Keep the Tri-Luma tube tightly closed and store it in the refrigerator at a temperature between 36 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not allow it to freeze. Keep this medication out of reach of children.

What happens if I overdose on Tri-Luma?

Excessive use of Tri-Luma will result in exaggerated side effects. If you think you are using too much, contact your doctor or dermatologist. If someone has accidently ingested Tri-Luma, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.
