This medicine is a urinary antiseptic, antispasmodic, and analgesic combination used to treat the discomfort of irritative urination. It is used to relieve symptoms such as inflammation, spasms, and pain due to certain types of urinary tract infections. It is also used to relieve discomfort associated with certain diagnostic procedures. This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for taking this medicine provided by your doctor. DRINKING EXTRA FLUIDS while you are taking this medicine is recommended. Check with your doctor or nurse for instructions. Certain medicines, such as antacids, anticholinergics (eg, propantheline), antidiarrheals (eg, loperamide), antimyasthenics (eg, ambenonium), ketoconazole, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (eg, phenelzine), narcotic pain relievers (eg, codeine), thiazide diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide), or urinary alkalinizers (eg, sodium bicarbonate), should not be taken at the same time as this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if your dose of this medicine should be separated from your dose of any of your other medicines. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. Take this medicine regularly to receive the most benefit from it. Taking this medicine at the same times each day will help you to remember. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking a sulfonamide (eg, sulfamethoxazone) or a solid dosage form (capsules, tablets) of potassium chloride. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking antacids, anticholinergics (eg, propantheline, scopolamine), antidiarrheals (eg, loperamide), antimyasthenics (eg, pyridostigmine), ketoconazole, narcotic pain relievers (eg, codeine), phenothiazines (eg, chlorpromazine), thiazide diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide), urinary alkalinizers (eg, sodium bicarbonate), or medicine for a mental or mood problem. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including dehydration, glaucoma or increased eye pressure, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G6PD), gout, hiatal hernia, kidney problems, liver problems, chicken pox, flu, heart problems (eg, irregular heartbeat, congestive heart failure, mitral stenosis, or coronary artery disease), stomach or bowel problems (eg, blockage, colitis, motility problems, ulcers), bladder problems or trouble urinating, enlarged prostate, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you are on a low-salt diet. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary tract blockage, myasthenia gravis, reflux esophagitis, toxic megacolon, or severe ulcerative colitis. Use of this medicine in children younger than 6 years is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include flushing, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, or dry mouth. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience severe dizziness, blurred vision, rapid pulse, fast heartbeat, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, or trouble urinating. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include fast heartbeat, dizziness, blurred vision, seizures; mental or mood changes; and slowed or shallow breathing.
