Vigamox Information:

What is Vigamox?

Vigamox is an ophthalmic solution that contains the quinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin. It is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, caused by a variety of bacteria. Moxifloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial cell division, thereby stopping the spread of the infection. Moxifloxacin is effective against both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.

How do I take Vigamox?

Wash your hands with soap and water before applying Vigamox. Tilt your head back and pull down the lower lid of the infected eye with your finger to form a pouch. Place the prescribe amount of drops into the pouch without touching the dropper to your eye our eyelid. The usual dosage is one drop three times daily for seven days, but follow instructions provided by your doctor. Close your eye and keep your head down for 2-3 minutes, or close your eye and apply pressure to the inner corner of the eyelid where the tear duct is located for two minutes. This will allow the eye to absorb the medication. Wipe off any excess medication with a tissue and wash your hands after each application. Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication. Wash your hands often while you have an eye infection. It is highly contagious. After you are cured, replace any materials that may have come in contact with your eye such as contact lenses, contact cases, or makeup.
