Acular Ls Information:
What is Acular LS?
Acular LS is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain after eye surgery. It is also sometimes used to treat eye irritation caused by seasonal allergies. As an NSAID, it helps manage pain by reducing swelling.
How do I take Acular LS?
Wash your hands before every Acular LS application, and make sure the tip of the eye dropper does not touch your eye or any surface. When you are ready to apply your prescribed eye drops, tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid. Squeeze one drop into your eye while looking up and away from the tip of the dropper. Close your eye and place a finger on the inside corner of your eye near your nose for about a minute to keep the solution from leaking out. Repeat this process only as often as your doctor has instructed you to.
Before taking Acular LS, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to this or any other NSAIDs
- You have any other known allergies
- You are taking any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs or supplements, especially blood thinners
- You have glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, or other eye problems
- You have recently had any other eye surgeries
- You have a blood clotting or bleeding disorder
- You have diabetes
- You have asthma
- You have rheumatoid arthritis
- You have nasal polyps
- You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects of taking Acular LS?
Acular LS may cause mild burning, stinging, or redness for the first few minutes after an application. If pain or irritation lasts longer than this, contact your doctor or optometrist. Call your healthcare provider immediately if you experience unusual vision changes, eye swelling, eye discharge, bleeding inside the eye, or white patches on the eye, as these side effects may be signs of a more serious problem. If you believe you are having a severe allergic reaction after using this drug, seek emergency medical attention.
What if I forget to take a dose of Acular LS?
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regular scheduled time. Do not apply more eye drops than you normally would for a single dose.
How do I store Acular LS?
Store your bottle of Acular LS at room temperature, away from moisture and bright light. Keep the lid tightly sealed when you are not using this medication, and store Acular LS somewhere that children and pets cannot reach it. If you notice the solution becoming cloudy or discolored, or if you see floating particles, discard it immediately. Follow your pharmacist’s instructions for safe disposal.
What happens if I overdose on Acular LS?
You are not likely to overdose on Acular LS when using it as prescribed, but it may cause life-threatening side effects if swallowed. If you or someone in your household has swallowed some of this solution, get emergency medical help right away.
Warnings
Acular LS can cause temporary vision changes, so you should avoid driving or performing any other tasks that require clear vision until you know you can do so safely. Do not wear contact lenses or use any other eye medications while applying Acular LS unless your doctor has given you permission to do so.
Brand Names
Acular LS is a brand name drug. The FDA has approved a generic equivalent, ketorolac, to treat the same conditions as Acular LS. Coupons for both the brand name and generic forms are available through HelpRx.
