Crinone Information:
What is Crinone?
Crinone is a medication, in gel form, of the progesterone class and is prescribed to help improve fertility in women whose progesterone levels are too low. It works by causing changes to the uterine lining, making it easier for eggs to attach there in the earlier stages of pregnancy. It is also used to help women with their menstrual periods who lack progesterone but have not reached menopause and to treat endometriosis.
How do I take Crinone?
Crinone is prescribed in either a 4 percent or 8 percent concentration, both of which come in a single use, prefilled applicator. When treating secondary amenorrhea, the 4 percent dosage is administered vaginally, every other day, up to six doses. If there is no response, the dosage can be increased to the 8 percent strength, every other day, up to six doses. As a component of assisted reproductive technology, the 8 percent concentration is applied in 90mg doses on a daily or twice daily basis, depending on patient profile. Use Crinone only as directed.P
