Take cefadroxil exactly as directed by your doctor. Make sure that if you are taking the liquid form to shake well before each use. Cefadroxil capsules and tablets should be swallowed whole and taken with a full glass of water.

As with most antibiotics, even if you are feeling better, continue taking until the medication is gone unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

Before taking cefadroxil, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to cefadroxil or any other cephalosporin antibiotic such as cefaclor, cephalexin, or penicillin

It is common to feel better before completing, but it is important to finish this medication as prescribed.  People with severe kidney problems or a history of gastrointestinal disease be aware of how this medication may affect their medical condition and determine whether any special monitoring is needed. Cefadroxil, like other antibiotics, can cause a growth of organisms that they don't kill, such as yeast that can lead to vaginitis. If you have severe diarrhea, with or without fever or blood, after taking cefadroxil, get medical attention as soon as possible.
