Cutivate Information:
What is Cutivate?
Cutivate is the drug fluticasone, a corticosteroid in the form of a topical medication. It is prescribed to treat the various symptoms including scaling, dryness, redness, and itching, redness, and inflammation that accompany allergies, psoriasis, eczema, and other skin conditions. It works by blocking the actions of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation.
How do I take Cutivate?
Cutivate is dispensed as a lotion or ointment that is applied to the scalp or skin, respectively, two to four times per day. The actual dosing regimen will be determined by your healthcare provider. For the ointment, thoroughly clean and dry the affected area, then apply the recommended amount, rubbing it into the skin. Apply the lotion directly to the scalp and gently massage it in. Wash hands after use.
Before taking Cutivate, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to fluticasone or any of the ingredients in the Cutivate lotion or ointment
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child
- You are taking any medications, vitamins, or supplements
- You have any allergies, illnesses, or infections
- You are using other topical corticosteroids
What are the possible side effects of taking Cutivate?
Those who use the Cutivate drug may experience mild side effects such as numbing of the fingers, itching, burning, swelling, redness, or a mild rash. If these conditions persist or worsen, contact your doctor. If you experience signs of an allergic reaction, seek medical help immediately.
What if I forget to take a dose of Cutivate?
If you miss a scheduled dose of Cutivate, apply it as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and return to the original schedule. Do not increase the amount applied or alter the schedule.
How do I store Cutivate?
Keep Cutivate tightly sealed in its bottle or tube, out of the reach of children and away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not allow this medication to freeze. Dispose of any expired or unused lotion or ointment according to the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Cutivate?
Cutivate is for topical application only. If it is accidentally ingested, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.
Warnings
Cutivate is for external use only; it is not for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal application. Contact your doctor if you become pregnant while using this medication.
