What is Didrex?
Didrex is benzphetamine hydrochloride, a stimulant similar to amphetamine prescribed as an appetite suppressant, in conjunction with a low-calorie diet and exercise program, to help with weight loss. It works by affecting the central nervous system.
How do I take Didrex?
Didrex pills are taken orally, with water once a day, without regard for food, for up to 4 weeks. The exact dosing regimen will be determined by the doctor. Follow the prescription instructions exactly.
Before taking Didrex, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to benzphetamine or any of the ingredients in Didrex
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child

- You have a history of substance abuse, including alcohol

What are the possible side effects of taking Didrex?
Some individuals have reported side effects after taking Didrex, including diarrhea, dizziness, a dry or an unpleasant taste in the mouth, hyperactivity, headache, increased sweating, restlessness, insomnia, mild skin rash, nausea, tremors, and an upset stomach. If any of these conditions appear and linger or worsen, contact your doctor. Severe side effects that necessitate immediate medical care include signs of an allergic reaction, loss of consciousness, seizures, chest pain, pounding or fluttering heart, severe hypertension, unusual thoughts or behaviors, disorientation, rapid weight gain, swelling, shortness of breath, and irritability.
What if I forget to take a dose of Didrex?
If you miss a dose of Didrex, take it as soon as you remember and are able. If there are fewer than 12 hours remaining until your next dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the number of pills taken or alter the dosing regimen to make up for a missed dose.
How do I store Didrex?
Keep Didrex tightly sealed in its original packaging out of the reach of children and away from heat and humidity. Because of its potential for abuse, keep a record of all pills taken in order to detect unauthorized access. Dispose of any expired or unused tablets according to the instructions of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Didrex?
An overdose of Didrex pills can be fatal. If you suspect an overdose has occurred, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has lost consciousness or stopped breathing, call Emergency Services at 911. Signs of an overdose include aggression, arrhythmia, disorientation, darkened urine, diarrhea, fainting, feeling light-headed, fever, sudden hostility, weak or painful muscles, nausea, panic, seizures, slow breathing, stomach cramps, tachycardia, vomiting, or a weakened pulse.
Warnings
Do not take Didrex if you are pregnant; contact your doctor if you become pregnant while taking this medication. Didrex can be habit forming. Contact your doctor if you have not lost weight after 4 weeks of taking this medication. Drinking alcohol can exacerbate the side effects of this drug. To avoid sleep problems, do not take this medication in the afternoon or evening. Didrex may impair reactions or thinking; do not drive, operate heavy machinery or equipment, use power tools, or handle firearms or explosives until its effects are known.
