Divigel Information:

What is Divigel?

Divigel contains the estrogen hormone estradiol. It helps relieve moderate to severe menopause symptoms, which often begin when a woman’s body stops producing estrogen. The Divigel drug comes in the form of a clear, smooth gel.

How do I take Divigel?

Before applying Divigel, wash and dry your hands. Sit down, cut or tear open the individual gel packet, and squeeze all the gel onto an unbroken patch of skin on your upper thigh. Gently spread the gel so that it is in a thin layer, and allow it to dry completely before covering the area. Wash your hands with soap and water.

Before taking Divigel, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to this or any other medications
  • You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications or supplements
  • You have had a stroke or heart attack in the past year
  • You have a history of blood clots
  • You have a history of liver or kidney problems
  • You have experienced unusual vaginal bleeding
  • You will have to be confined to a sitting or lying position for an extended period of time (e.g. you are undergoing surgery)
  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or may become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Divigel?

Some of the most common drug side effects of Divigel include headache, breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, irregular vaginal bleeding, and hair loss. Uncommon but serious side effects include blood clots, stroke, heart attack, gallbladder disease, breast cancer, uterine cancer, and ovarian cancer. If you experience symptoms of any serious side effects, or if you have any side effects that persist or worsen, talk to your doctor right away.

What if I forget to take a dose of Divigel?

If you remember the dose with more than 12 hours to go before your next application, go ahead and apply the missed dose of Divigel and continue your normal dosing schedule the next day. If less than 12 hours remain until the next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and apply the next dose at the normal time.

How do I store Divigel?

Keep Divigel at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Store it away from light, moisture, and open flames, as the gel is flammable. Do not open an individual gel packet until you are ready to use it. Always keep your prescription medications out of reach of children and pets.

What happens if I overdose on Divigel?

If you or someone in your household swallows any of the Divigel drug, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or seek emergency medical attention.

Warnings

Because Divigel is absorbed through the skin, you should not let anyone else apply the gel for you or touch the area of skin where you have applied the gel for at least one hour. If someone does touch the wet gel, have them wash the area of contact immediately. Do not apply Divigel to any part of your body other than the area your doctor has instructed you to apply it to.

Brand Name

Divigel is a brand name drug, and there is currently no generic equivalent on the market. As a result, the Divigel price can be high. Remember, you can save on each prescription fill when you use a HelpRx Divigel coupon. Click ‘Claim Discount’ to get it.
