Potassium Chloride Information:
What is potassium chloride?
Potassium chloride is a naturally-occurring mineral compound of potassium and chlorine. The body needs potassium to survive, and potassium chloride is often prescribed to treat potassium deficiencies or hypokalemia. When an individual is deficient in potassium or has hypokalemia, he or she may experience muscle cramps, muscle weakness, high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, and constipation. Severe hypokalemia can result in respiratory depression from the impairment of skeletal muscle. Some people who are awoken from leg cramping in the middle of the night may need to take potassium supplements. Potassium chloride is also used to treat skin disorders, gout and kidney stones. This medication works by reducing acidity in the blood which decreases swelling in joints and stops crystallizations from forming in the kidneys. It also increases the availability of oxygen in the blood and skin.

Drop these tablets in a three or four ounce glass of cold water and allow them to dissolve completely. Drink the medication within ten minutes of dissolving the tablets.
