Prestalia Information:
Prestalia is a medication that is used to treat a condition called hypertension (high blood pressure). The main active ingredient in Prestalia is called perindopril arginine, and it works by inhibiting an enzyme in the body that naturally raises blood pressure.
Take one Prestalia tablet every day with or without a meal. Do not crush, chew, or dissolve tablets, as this may cause unwanted side effects.
Before taking Prestalia, tell your doctor if:
- You have heart disease
- You have liver problems
- You have abnormal potassium levels
- You have a condition that causes vomiting
- You plan to have a surgical procedure
- You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- You are currently breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed your baby
- You are currently taking any other prescription medications
- You have any food or drug allergies
Some of the possible side effects associated with taking medications such as Prestalia include swelling of the feet, ankles, and hands; cough; headaches; and dizziness. Call your doctor right away if any of these symptoms become bothersome or worsen over time.
If you accidently forget to take your Prestalia medication, take it as soon as you remember. However, if your following scheduled dose is coming up within 12 hours, skip the missed dose and only take your usual dose the next day.
Store Prestalia in a room with a temperature around 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep your medication in a tightly-sealed container and away from moisture and excessive heat.
An overdose on Prestalia may cause extremely low blood pressure that can lead to fatigue and fainting. Drink plenty of water and call 911 if you overdose on Prestalia.
You should use Prestalia along with a doctor-recommended diet and exercise plan to lower your blood pressure. The risk for a serious heart attack is significant when starting or increasing your Prestalia medication.
