What is Prudoxin?
Prudoxin is a topical cream that can help treat severe itchy, dry, and flaky skin. The main active ingredient in Prudoxin is called doxepin, and it works by blocking the production of histamine in the body. Histamines are a substance that trigger an itchy feeling.
How do I use Prudoxin?
Adults should apply a thin layer of Prudoxin to the affected areas 4 times a day, with at least 3-4 hours in between each application. The application of Prudoxin in children should be determined by a physician.
Before using Prudoxin tell your doctor if:
- You are taking medications that contain antihistamines
- You have glaucoma
- You have problems urinating or urinary blockage
- You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant

The side effects associated with taking Prudoxin include: burning, stinging, swelling, or worsening itchiness of the skin. Contact your doctor right away if you experience a fever, abdominal pain, blurred vision, convulsions, difficulty breathing, drowsiness, difficulty passing urine, enlarged pupils, excessive dryness of mouth, or fast heart rate.
What if I forget to take a dose of Prudoxin?
If you forget to apply Prudoxin, skip the missed dose and apply the medication at the next scheduled time. Do not apply more Prudoxin than is prescribed to you as this may cause adverse skin reactions.
How do I store Prudoxin?
Store Prudoxin in a room with a temperature below 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not expose the medication to extreme heat or cold.
What happens if I overdose on Prudoxin?
If you overdose on Prudoxin, you may experience abdominal pain, changes in vision, or seizures. Contact local emergency services at 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Warnings
