What is Reclipsen?

Reclipsen is a medication that prevents pregnancy when used daily and as directed by a physician. Like other oral contraceptives, Reclipsen does not prevent HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases. Reclipsen contains two active ingredients, ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel, that work in combination to prevent ovulation and insemination when taken daily. 

How do I take Reclipsen?

In order to prevent pregnancy, it important to take Reclipsen every single day at the same time without any missed doses. The Reclipsen packet will include specific weeks and days, so follow the schedule very carefully without missing a single dose. Depending on your doctor, you may be recommended to take Reclipsen the first Sunday after your period starts. 

Before taking Reclipsen, tell your doctor if:

  • You have a history of blood clots in legs or lungs.

What are the possible side effects of taking Reclipsen?

Some of the most common side effect patients on Reclipsen may experience nausea, vomiting, change in appetite, headache, nervousness, depression, dizziness, and loss of scalp hair, rash, and vaginal infections. 

What if I forget to take a dose of Reclipsen?

If you miss a dose of Reclipsen, take it as soon as remember. If it’s close to your next scheduled dose, you may take 2 pills in one day. If you miss 2 active white pills in a row in week one or two, take 2 pills on the day you remember and 2 pills the next day, then take 1 pill until you finish the pack. You may become pregnant if you have unprotected sex 7 days after you restart your pills. 

How do I store Reclipsen?

Store Reclipsen pills at a room with a temperature between 58 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not expose Reclipsen pills to extreme heat, cold, or moisture, and keep out of reach from children. 

What happens if I overdose on Reclipsen?

An overdose of Reclipsen may cause nausea and withdrawal bleeding in females. If you overdose on Reclipsen, call your doctor right away to prevent health complications. 

Warnings

You experience irregular vaginal bleeding while taking Reclipsen pills. Patients who wear contact lenses may experience a change in vision or inability to wear lenses while taking Reclipsen.
