Sklice Information:
What is Sklice?
Sklice is an anti-infective lotion containing the active ingredient ivermectin. When applied to dry hair and allowed to sit for 10 minutes, it is shown to be an effective means of killing head lice in a single application.
How do I take Sklice?
Completely cover dry scalp and hair with the Sklice lotion, starting with the hair closest to the scalp and working outwards. Coat each hair thoroughly from the scalp and tip so that all lice and eggs are exposed to the lotion. Use one entire tube of lotion if necessary. Let Sklice stay on the hair and scalp for 10 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly with water. If you’re applying the lotion to your child’s head, remember to wash your hands thoroughly after the treatment.
Before taking Sklice, tell your doctor if:
- You or your child has any skin sensitivities or conditions
- You or your child has any other medical conditions
- You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or planning to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects to taking Sklice?
Many people who use Sklice do not experience side effects, and side effects that do occur are often mild. Some of the most common side effects include dandruff, dry skin, eye irritation or redness, or a burning sensation of the skin. If you or your child experiences any side effects that persist or worsen, tell your doctor.
What if I forget to take a dose of Sklice?
Since Sklice is intended for single use, forgetting a dose should not be an issue.
How do I store Sklice?
Store an unopened tube of Sklice lotion at room temperature (68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit). Because the tube is designed for single use, you should discard any unused lotion after application. Ask your pharmacist how to safely dispose of this topical medication.
What happens if I overdose on Sklice?
Since Sklice is a topical medication, overdosing should not be a concern. However, if you or anyone in your household swallows Sklice, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Warnings
Avoid getting Sklice in the mouth, nose, ears, or eyes. If your child needs this medication, you should apply it to their hair and scalp so that you can supervise and prevent accidental ingestion. After finishing treatment, continue to check everyone in your household for lice for a full week.
