Tekturna contains an antihypertensive medication called aliskiren that works by inhibiting the renin enzyme. Renin is a necessary enzyme for the production of angiotensin II, a substance that causes vasoconstriction and raises arterial blood pressure. Tekturna is a brand-name medication. There are currently no generic versions on the market and no other brand names.
