What is Vayacog?
Vayacog is in the medical foods class and is prescribed to help treat the early memory impairment associated with Alzheimer’s disease. It may also be prescribed to treat depression, diabetic neuropathy, osteoarthritis and other conditions. Vayacog combines the essential fatty acids phosphatidylserine-omega 3 and docosahexaenoic acid to manage certain lipid imbalances in order to improve brain and cell functioning.
How do I take Vayacog?
Vayacog is administered in capsule form and taken orally with water and without regard to food. The amount taken and frequency of dosing will be determined by your doctor. Follow the dosing instructions exactly. Continue to take this medication even if you feel well and do not stop taking Vayacog without consulting your doctor.
Before taking Vayacog, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to phosphatidylserine-omega 3, docosahexaenoic acid, or any of the ingredients in Vayacog

What are the possible side effects of taking Vayacog?
Some people have reported side effects after taking the Vayacog drug. Less severe symptoms include indigestion, burping, altered taste, and a mild rash. Contact your doctor if any of these conditions last a long time or become bothersome. Rare but serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention include persistent vomiting, blood clotting disorders, or abnormal liver function test results.
What if I forget to take a dose of Vayacog?
If you forget to take your scheduled dose of Vayacog, do so as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase the number taken or change the schedule to make up for one that was missed.
How do I store Vayacog?
Keep the Vayacog drug tightly sealed in its original container, out of the reach of children and away from extremes of temperature and humidity. Dispose of any unused capsules according to the instructions of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Vayacog?
If an overdose of Vayacog is suspected, contact your local Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, get emergency medical help.
