Before taking doxycycline monohydrate, tell your doctor if:

• You are allergic to doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline, sulfites, or any other medications.
• You are taking any prescription or nonprescription medications, especially antacids, anticoagulants, penicillin, Phenobarbital, phenytoin, and vitamins. Doxycycline monohydrate decreases the effectiveness of some birth control pills.
• You have or ever had diabetes or kidney or liver disease.
• You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or are breast feeding. If you become pregnant while taking doxycycline monohydrate, tell your doctor immediately.
