What is Aerochamber Plus?

Aerochamber Plus is an assistive inhaler chamber available by prescription only. Patients who cannot control or coordinate the use of a Metered Dose Inhaler correctly can use Aerochamber Plus to improve delivery of medication. The device is optionally available with instructions for use printed on the acrylic body for those just learning to use an inhaler.

How do I use Aerochamber Plus?

Before use, examine the inhaler for missing parts, foreign objects, or damage. Remove the cap from the Metered Dose Inhaler, then shake it before each use. Insert the inhaler into the back of the Aerochamber Plus and press the mask to your face. Make sure there is a good seal using the Flow Indicator at the top of the chamber. Inhale slowly while pressing the MDI for 5-6 breaths. If you need to repeat the process, follow the instructions provided with your inhaler.

• Precautions

When handling an inhaler with Aerochamber Plus:

• Do not expose products to water, ammonia, amines, or alcohol
• Keep away from flame or flammable objects
• Store at 75°F to 105°F

 

If your MDI or Aerochamber Plus has been contaminated with water:

• Do not tightly close any air flows or seal any parts

What are the possible side effects of using Aerochamber Plus?

As an MDI assistive chamber, Aerochamber Plus does not directly cause medicine-related side effects, but the side effects of using a Metered Dosage Inhaler may include headache, dizziness, mild nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, sore throat, cough, runny nose, stuffy nose, muscle pain, and diarrhea. Call your doctor if you experience a serious rise in blood pressure, weakness, confusion, tremor, nervousness, chest pain, wheezing, chest tightness, or trouble breathing.

• Missed Dose

What if I forget to use a dose of Aerochamber Plus?

Patients should inhale 1 spray 4 times a day, unless otherwise directed. It is okay to take additional inhalations as required, but the total number of inhalations should never exceed 6 in a 24 hour period. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you remember a forgotten dosage after you’ve already taken the next dose, do not take an additional inhalation.

• Storage

How do I store Aerochamber Plus?

Store your Aerochamber Plus in a cool, dry place. Try to prevent moisture buildup so that water does not enter your MDI through the assistive chamber. Keep the chamber out of heat or direct sunlight. Place the chamber away from children and pets.

• Overdose

What happens if I overdose on Aerochamber Plus?

You may begin to experience severe chest pain and difficulty breathing if you overdose on aerosolized medicine using the Aerochamber Plus. Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or get emergency medical help if you suspect an overdose.

Check with your doctor about other inhaled medicines before beginning use of an MDI. The Aerochamber Plus, in combination with a Metered Dosage Inhaler, is intended only to be used by the patient for whom the device is prescribed. Avoid sharing with others.
