Limbrel Information:

What is Limbrel?

Limbrel is the brand name of flavocoxid, a bioflavonoid found in rose hips, a dietary supplement found in the rind of green citrus fruits, and in black currents. It is classified as a nutraceutical and is used to help to treat moderate to severe symptoms of osteoarthritis by reducing inflammation. It is not effective in treating rheumatoid or juvenile rheumatoid arthritis or other types of inflammation.

How do I take Limbrel?

The Limbrel drug is dispensed in capsule form and is usually taken once every twelve hours with a full glass of water and within an hour of eating (either before or after a meal). However, the needs of each patient are different; follow the dosing instructions of your doctor and do not change the routine without permission. Do not exceed the recommended dosage regimen without a doctor’s permission.

Before taking Limbrel, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to flavocoxid, bioflavonoids, or any of the ingredients in the Limbrel capsule
  • You are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, vitamins, or supplements
  • You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child
  • You have any illnesses, medical conditions, or a history of medical problems

What are the possible side effects of taking Limbrel?

Limbrel drug side effects have been associated with taking bioflavonoids. Mild side effects include vision problems, headaches, itching near damaged veins, dizziness, aching, pressure, or heaviness in the legs, fluid buildup in the knee, swollen feet and ankles, agitation, tinnitus, red or scaling skin, tachycardia, or a slowed heart rate. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.

Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat, or tongue; difficulty breathing or swallowing; or rash, hives, blisters, or itching).

What if I forget to take a dose of Limbrel?

In the event of a missed dose of Limbrel, follow the instructions on the packaging or ask your healthcare provider for information. Do not increase the number of capsules or the dosage frequency without the written permission of a doctor.

How do I store Limbrel?

Keep Limbrel tightly sealed in its original container, out of the reach of children and away from the extremes of temperature and humidity. Dispose of any unused or expired doses according to the instructions of a pharmacist.

What happens if I overdose on Limbrel?
If an overdose of Limbrel is suspected, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.

Warnings

Do not take Limbrel if you are taking other bioflavonoids or supplements without a doctor’s permission. Contact your doctor if you become pregnant while taking this medication. Because Limbrel may cause blurred vision or dizziness, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or equipment, use power tools, or use firearms until the effects are known or have passed.
