This medicine is a calcium channel blocker used to treat angina (chest pain) or high blood pressure. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE TAKEN WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly closed container, away from heat and light. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of chidren and away from pets. Taking this medicine at the same time(s) each day will help you to remember. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you are also taking erythromycin. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), benzodiazepines (eg, triazolam, midazolam), buspirone, carbamazepine, cholesterol-lowering "statin" medicines (eg, lovastatin, simvastatin, atorvastatin), cilostazol, cimetidine, cisapride, clonidine, colchicine, corticosteroids (eg, methylprednisolone), cyclosporine, digoxin, everolimus, fentanyl, other medicines for high blood pressure or heart conditions, certain medicines for heart rhythm (eg, amiodarone, dronedarone), HIV protease inhibitors (eg, atazanavir, indinavir), hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), lurasidone, macrolide antibiotics (eg, clarithromycin), moricizine, nifedipine, quinidine, ranolazine, rifamycins (eg, rifampin), macrolide immunosuppressants (eg, sirolimus, tacrolimus), theophylline, tricyclic antidepressants (eg, imipramine), or vasopressin antagonists (eg, tolvaptan). DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including heart failure, recent heart attack with lung congestion, heart block, a very slow heart rate, or other heart problems; low blood pressure; kidney or liver disease; allergies; pregnancy; or breast-feeding. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have certain heart problems (eg, sick sinus syndrome, second- or third-degree heart block) and do not have a pacemaker, you have very low blood pressure, or you have fluid buildup in the lungs during or soon after a heart attack. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while you are taking this medicine are constipation, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, tiredness, or weakness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience tender, bleeding, or swollen gums; fever, chills, or sore throat; unusual bleeding or bruising; unusual or persistent tiredness or weakness; or vision changes. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience chest pain; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; mood or mental changes; severe or persistent dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, or vomiting; personality changes; reddened, blistered or swollen skin; shortness of breath; sudden weight gain; swelling of the feet, ankles, or hands; or symptoms of liver problems (eg, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, pale stools). An allergic reaction to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; or unusual hoarseness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If overdose is suspected contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include confusion; difficulty breathing, especially when lying down; dizziness; drowsiness; fainting; lightheadedness, especially upon standing; loss of consciousness; nausea; nervousness; slurred speech; very slow heart rate; unusual weakness.
DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, obtain refills before your supply runs out. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dipose of unused medicine.
