Taztia Xt Information:
What is Taztia XT?
A calcium channel blocker, Taztia XT is a once-a-day, extended-release branded generic of the brand Tiazac. The full generic is diltiazem, and it brings more oxygenated blood to the heart and relaxes blood vessels, ensuring the heart does not have to work too hard. Taztia XT also affects the amount of calcium in your heart and muscle cells. It can be used concomitantly with other medications, and is most often prescribed to treat stable angina and high blood pressure. You doctor may prescribe Taztia XT for other things.
How do I take Taztia XT?
Read the included information packet and always follow your doctor's instructions. Take 1 pill daily by mouth at the same time every day, and food may help diminish any stomach discomfort. Do not stop taking Taztia XT without direction from your doctor, and always continue taking your medication even if you feel well.
Do not crush, cut, or chew your pills, as this will release too much medication at the same time. If you have problems swallowing your pill, you may open the capsule carefully and sprinkle the whole dose over a spoonful (no more or less) of cool applesauce which you can swallow at once without chewing. Follow this with a glass of water.
Before taking Taztia XT, tell your doctor if:
- You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
- You have a history of or currently or recently experienced heart problems or disease, such as a heart attack accompanied by lung congestion, low blood pressure, or heart failure.
- You have a pacemaker or are taking any other heart medications.
- You are about to have surgery, including dental surgery.
- You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medications, supplements, or vitamins, especially erythromycin. A number of medications may interact with your Taztia XT.
- You have any medical or food allergies.
- You have a history of or are currently experiencing liver or kidney disorders or disease.
- You have any gastrointestinal problems or disorders.

What if I forget to take a dose of Taztia XT?
You may take the missed dose as soon as you remember it, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is, skip the missed dose and maintain your regular dosing regimen. Never take 2 doses at once or any extra Taztia XT to make up for the missed dose.
